We have some excellent events coming up from Modern Stoicism…including one I’ll be speaking at tomorrow.
Conversations with Modern Stoicism
On Saturday, July 11, I’ll be at Conversations with Modern Stoicism talking about the shared ethics of Stoicism and Christianity. As you know, my book Jesus and Stoicism: The Parallel Sayings came out in March, and I’m glad to continue discussing some of the parallels between the two traditions.
Even if you’re not especially interested in this topic, I would encourage you to attend one of these conversations at some point. Host Phil Yanov does an excellent job of leading meaningful discussions with Stoics (or the Stoic-curious) from all over the world. It’s a rare opportunity to dive deeply into a Stoic-centered topic, discuss it from multiple angles, and come away with new ideas for your everyday Stoic practice.
For tomorrow’s conversation, I’ll be talking about the connections between Stoicism and Christianity, with a focus on ethical texts. There’s a short presentation, but most of the time is focused on discussion. I would love to see you there!
Start time: 10 am EDT / 3 pm BST
